I spend a lot of time and money in Starbucks. I like the hustle and bustle mixed with a calm atmosphere, the “shhshshhhshhhdhsh” sound of milk being foamed, and the already pricy iced white mocha to which I add the extra shot of espresso for flavor. And for someone named Sip and Go Girl it’s the darn near perfect place right?
It’s also one place where I realize everyone is happier than me.
One of the toughest things for me to deal with when I was trying to decide whether to officially end my marriage was knowing I invested nearly 15 years of my life into the relationship. And was it all for naught?
“But we’ve been through so much together” was one of my thoughts.
I was scared of being back in the same lifestyle I had 15 years prior with nothing to show for it, except for some boxed memories and a lifetime of what ifs. It would mean living in an apartment with a cat named after a spice and working in television news. It looked like 1996 all over again.

Kurt and I met at a university campus ATM. He recognized the monstrous law book I was carrying as the same one he used in Paul Falzone’s criminal justice class. Turns out Kurt was taking the same class but on a different day.
Our conversation led to an exchange of phone numbers, a phone call, and a date. On a Friday night, I met him at his house. We were then going to drive to see the new Robin Hood movie. The year was 1991. Kurt was 
wearing those denim overalls popular with bands like New Kids on the Block.

In spring 2005, the story broke about a woman in Georgia who vanished around the time of her wedding. Law enforcement launched a nationwide search. The woman, Jennifer Wilbanks, eventually called her fiance from New Mexico and claimed she had been attacked and kidnapped.
While police were talking with her, Wilbanks admitted where was no abduction and no attack. She had been overwhelmed by her upcoming wedding.
My then-husband Steve said, “Well I’m not surprised. Look at her. She has crazy in her eyes.”

Eric and I arranged to meet at a slightly upscale restaurant and bar for a drink.
For me, it was merely Tuesday. For him and the rest of the United States, it was Valentine’s Day.
He worked as 
a counselor at a medical facility and was friendly and slightly charming, although he asked me more than once what I thought of his physical appearance. He was dressed nicely but beyond that I had little to say.

So what is “What is sipping and going?”
Six months after my divorce was final, I decided to start dating again. I desperately wanted the distraction and diversion after a rough time in a marriage and rough time during a divorce.
I did not want to mine my workplace or any other area of my life for a date. So I threw a profile up on an online dating site and logged off the computer. When I checked a couple days later, I had dozens of emails. It was easy. I had a date!
